Highlights & Mission

Opening Doors…Changing Lives…through Philanthropy!

Since its founding over 40 years ago, individual, corporate, and foundation donors have generously provided financial support to Glacier Hills. Donors help keep extraordinary and exemplary care, and outstanding life enrichment experiences, hallmarks of our Glacier Hills Senior Living Community. But quality is not self-sustaining—it requires constant renewal and rededication.

Donations of all sizes and types help sustain signature programs, launch new ones, educate/train/retain excellent employees, and expand our capacity to better serve our community now and in the years ahead. Your contribution guarantees that Glacier Hills will exceed expectations and provide services, programs, and physical enhancements to our buildings and grounds that continue to improve lives each and every day.

The Foundation completed a successful Capital Campaign in 2012 that exceeded the $2.5M goal in 14 months

In addition, 126 donors, individuals, corporations and foundations gave generously to support building the Life Enrichment Center (LEC) and establishing a Memory Care Endowment. The opening of the LEC is eagerly awaited by all.

The Foundation has fourteen named Employee Scholarship Funds and a pooled GH Scholarship Fund. It has awarded over $274,000 in scholarship support to 230 employees.

In addition, gifts totaling $434,000 helped establish the Glacier Hills Learning Institute and its educational programs. Examples include: the Knowledge Portal offering over 600 e-courses to 515 Glacier Hills’ employees each year; and intensive and comprehensive dementia care training.

The Foundation has awarded over $173,000 to projects and programs submitted by residents and staff that enhance Glacier Hills’ ability to serve.

Examples include: Life Enrichment activities, supplies, entertainment, computer classes; patio furniture and campus benches; artwork; wellness gardens; library books; transportation for outings; and partnerships with area non-profit organizations including Leslie Science & Nature Center, Elderwise, and Ann Arbor Art Center.

The Foundation has major and planned giving programs that include Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Trusts, IRA roll-overs, assignment of refundable entrance fees, and bequests with a current value of $1,464,000.

Together these planned gifts and intentions demonstrate the long term value donors perceive under Glacier Hills’ mission.
