The Board of Directors of Glacier Hills has finalized an agreement to become a subsidiary of Trinity Senior Living Communities (TSLC) of Livonia, Mich., effective July 1, 2016.
Glacier Hills, a full-service senior campus in Ann Arbor, includes a continuum of short-term and long-term rehabilitation and wellness services as well as senior living options. It will maintain its governance by a community board of directors.
TSLC, a non-profit senior housing and nursing care organization, currently owns and manages more than 45 communities offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, long term care and rehabilitation services for seniors. TSLC is a member of Trinity Health, the second largest Catholic health system in the country. St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Hospital is also a member of Trinity Health.
Ray Rabidoux, President and CEO of Glacier Hills, described the decision to join TSLC as an extension of Glacier Hills’ vision to help meet the needs of aging persons in the Ann Arbor area.
“Aligning with TSLC will preserve our mission into the future,” he explained. “It enhances the continuum of care in the region for seniors and aligns Glacier Hills to meet the needs of healthcare reform, deepens the existing relationships with Saint Joseph Mercy Health System and enables us to continue providing quality care and service to our residents and their families. It also assures our continuing relationship with the University of Michigan Health System.”
TSLC’s goal of creating a sustainable regional model with other Trinity Health Regional Health Ministries made Glacier Hills an attractive community to seek out a relationship with, and eventually, align. This structure will bring together the focus of both organizations people-centered care, providing streamlined communication for residents, guests and families as
they navigate through a health care event.
“We are proud to finalize this agreement with an organization dedicated to outstanding high quality care, employee satisfaction and excellence,” noted Ken Robbins, President & CEO of TSLC, in the acceptance of the agreement which was signed by TSLC and Glacier Hills on June 21, 2016. “We are invested in and committed to the people of Ann Arbor, and know this opportunity will enhance care delivery across our system for those we serve.”
Rabidoux and Robbins also announce that Glacier Hills and TSLC will establish The Glacier Hills Legacy Fund, in collaboration with the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, to focus on supporting the future needs of seniors in Washtenaw County. The Glacier Hills Legacy Fund program development and funding process will be completed in 2017.
TSLC owns and operates Sanctuary at St. Joseph’s Village, an independent and assisted living community, and Huron Woods, a memory care community, on the campus of St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor. In addition to enhancing the care continuum within the Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, Glacier Hills will continue working with patients and families from the University of Michigan Health System.
“It’s an exciting time to be in care delivery for seniors,” said David Brooks, President & CEO, St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor and Livingston hospitals. “We are looking forward to enhancing our relationships through a common ministry providing people-centered care together in Ann Arbor.”
“We are ecstatic for what this means for Southeastern Michigan,” added Rob Casalou, Regional President & CEO, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. “As we come together to deliver senior care and services within Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, we eagerly welcome Glacier Hills as an important part of our regional health ministry.”
