Volunteers

The job description of a Glacier Hills volunteer is to bring joy.  Volunteers from the local community accomplish this in a variety of ways. Volunteers help residents engage in daily Life Enrichment activities, including exercises, art, small groups and games. Volunteers participate in larger events such as concerts, parties, and holiday decorating. Some volunteers share their musical talents or bring their certified therapy pets. Others spend time one-on-one with a resident. They might read a book, write letters, visit the Glacier Hills library together or stroll in the garden. In addition, those interested in serving in a spiritual capacity can find many opportunities on our campus by coordinating with our Chaplain.

Volunteer opportunities are offered seven days per week: morning, afternoon and evening.  Volunteers may choose a weekly shift or sign-up for special volunteer opportunities on a more flexible basis. For highlights, read Glacier Hills’ 2021 Winter Volunteer Views. View the 2020 Glacier Hills Volunteer Award Ceremony on YouTube.

Here is what some of our volunteers have to say about the Glacier Hills experience.

“My favorite part about volunteering at Glacier Hills is making friends with residents.”

-Matthew Horner

“We (My husband Mike, our Standard Poodle Miles and I) volunteer at Glacier Hills because it’s a wonderful way for us to make a contribution that we hope makes the lives a residents happier, and because it’s a terrific place to visit. Glacier Hills makes sure that our volunteer experience is both easy and rewarding. Every effort is made to accommodate our schedules. The people we meet–both residents and staff–are warm, wonderful, and so appreciative! The positive feedback we receive makes us look forward to our next visit.”

-Janis Bobrin
